Members David Spears FRPS and Glenys Taylor ARPS enthralled the audience with their talks.

David an expert on microscopy, macro, time-lapse and other specialised imaging techniques, enlightened members with a very interesting talk on how he first started in photography, how his career evolved, the specialised equipment he used over the years and then, the end result. A fascinating talk and exquisite images!

Glenys, an expert in Audio Visuals, produced a variety of them in her presentation. Her imagination has no bounds and she is adept in finding pictures within a variety of materials, tree trunks, rust, peeling paint, rocks etc. Some of these were used in a most creative way and had the audience spellbound. Another captivating evening!

The first Print Competition of the season was judged by Peter Tickner of Wellington. The Open category produced so many excellent images that Peter found it very hard to choose his best six. Results: First Caroline Briggs with Contemplation; second Mike Birbeck with Geometric Cityscape; third Gillian Birbeck with Discussing the Finer Points. Highly commended were Tony Bagwell with Graveyard Path and Graeme Darling with Autumn Colours and Egret in Flight.

Roger Mallison judged the first Open Digital Projected Image Competition of the season. Members enjoyed a variety of superb images including a splendid selection from new members. Results: First Magdalena Ward with Identical; second George Reekie with Champion; third Deborah Armour with Nyala Mother and Calf at Waterhole. Highly Commended were Deborah Armour with Red Squirrel, Gillian Birbeck with Invisible to the Masses and Alan Grant with Bee Toss.
