Please remember to read the competition rules before entering, and good luck.

To see the high standard of entries you can find the winning images for the current season’s competitions in the competition galleries.

General rules for all competitions
There are various competitions for prints and for digital projected images each season. Trophies are awarded for some competitions, which may be open or for a set subject.

There will be an “Images of the Year” competition near the end of the season. Full details of these competitions will be given at the beginning of the season.

Entries can only be accepted from fully paid-up members who regularly attend club meetings.

Entries must be the original work of the entrant. Photographs, paintings or illustrations by other people will not be accepted.

With reasonable notice the committee reserves the right to alter any of the competition rules.

Rules specific to Print and Digital Projected Image competitions
By entering a competition, members grant to the club the right to publish their photographs in the club programme or display them on the club website. The copyright to images remains with the photographer.

Unless the club is advised to the contrary (See Print Competition rules or Digital projected Image Competition rules for method), members grant to the club the right to enter any images that have been entered into internal club competitions, into external competitions in the name of the club.

1st, 2nd, 3rd and an appropriate number of Highly Commended places will be awarded for each competition. The judge’s decision will be final. Images gaining these places will be ineligible for further internal competitions save for the Images of the Year competition.

Any entries that are judged to be in 1st, 2nd or 3rd places, or Highly Commended will be eligible for the “Images of the Year” competition.

The Club will award marks as follows: 1st 10, 2nd 8, 3rd 6, and HC 4. In addition one mark will be awarded for each non-scoring entry. The marks will be totalled and aggregate trophies awarded appropriately.

Please refer to the specific rules contained in “Rules for Print Competitions” or “Rules for Digital Projected Image Competitions” below. These form part of the club’s competition rules and should also be followed.
