Panel Competition results
Taunton
member Julian Comrie FRPS kindly judged The Panel
Competition for the third year running on Monday
December 12. Members submitted 5 images which were
shown individually and then together as a whole
panel. The value of a panel is the fact that its
strength lies in a connection between each image
and the whole would be greater than the sum of the
parts.
Julian started the evening with a short talk on how some people start in photography and then go on to obtain distinctions with the Royal Photographic Society. There are three distinctions and with each one the photographer has to submit a panel of photographs. The LRPS requires a panel of 10 photographs, the ARPS requires 15 photographs and the FRPS 20 photographs.
The Panel Digital Projected Image Competition result was: first Alan Grant with Thrills and Spills, second Tony Bagwell with Alpine Garden, third Jane Kearney with Fetch. Highly Commended were David Daggar with Waves and Pauline Watling with Circles.
The Panel Print Competition result was: first Jane Kearney with Sheep Shearing, second Mike Birbeck with Whitby Abbey, third Alan Grant with Damsels and Dragons.
