The New Year started with TCC Chairman Robin Cleverly talking about his experiences of Travelling with his Camera. The first half of the evening was about Timor-Leste, which is now an independent country in Southeast  Asia. It comprises the eastern half of the island of Timor, the nearby islands of Atauro and Jaco, and Oecusse, an exclave on the north western side of the island surrounded by Indonesian West Timor. The country’s size is about 15,000 square km. Robin’s description of the work he had to do there was interesting and at times amusing, backed up by his superb photography! One thing of note was the lack of wildlife there! The second half consisted of photographs he had taken on his trip to Bali. This included temples, shrines, markets, people, rice paddies and the active volcano, Mount Batur. A highly entertaining evening!

The following week brought about the third Open Print Competition of the season, which was judged by Sheila Haycox of Devon. The results were as follows:
First – Deborah Armour with King of the Hill
Second – Duncan Armour with Ochre-Breasted Antpitta
Third – Pauline Watling with The Unfortunates.
Highly Commended were:
Duncan Amour with Down the Hatch
Caroline Briggs with Part of Liverpool Museum
Alan Grant with Spiny Glass Frog.

Our latest evening was by Judy Craig, a club member of many years, with Wanderings with my Camera. Judy produced many Audio Visuals about her various travels. Amongst them were the Tall ships of Turku (Finland), Petra, Norway, parts of Peru, finishing with Macchu Picchu using various types of transport, ships, trains, buses, trucks, horses and Shanks’s pony!   Another excellent evening!

Thanks to Pauline Watling for the write-ups of the meetings.
